Police in pursuit of Windsor tire slasher

By HUB SmartCoverage Team on October 24th, 2017

"Does my insurance cover damage caused by a rogue tire slasher?"

That's the question that 20 Windsor drivers are asking themselves, following a bizarre incident in which an unidentified perpetrator went on a puncturing rampage along Giles Bouleavard.

The damage was done early Sunday morning, with officers arriving on the scene to investigate around 4:30 a.m. They did a canvassing of the street, with the affected vehicles being parked between Parent Avenue and Walker Road, at which point Giles turns into Ontario Street.

While details of the crime are still fairly unclear at this point, police have gotten their hands on video surveillance footage from a residential property that briefly captures the suspect. They released it to the public Tuesday.

It shows multiple angles of the suspect walking up to a van parked on the side of Giles Boulevard and slashing one of its front tires in a swift, businesslike manner. Though the suspect is captured from fairly far away, it appears almost certainly to be a male perpetrator. His ethnicity is unclear. He is wearing black shoes, baggy pants, a light shirt, and a dark hat.

Windsor Police has encouraged anyone with further information to come forward and contact the department at 519-355-6700 ext. 4350. Other methods of reaching out with information include contacting Crime Stoppers anonymously at 519-258-8477 (TIPS) or online at www.catchcrooks.com.
